Monthly Raise the Bar Report – Dec. 2015

Turning Soap into Green

Burundian soap makers reinvesting in community

Hello Pacha Soap Supporters!

Our team finds great joy in providing one of the most unique, beautiful, and quality soaps on the market. It is truly a joy to work with all of you in different capacities. We are delighted to create a wonderful product at our soap shop in Hastings, Nebraska, and provide that product to thousands of consumers all across the United States. That, in itself, is worth a lot and brings happiness to all involved. What we have to share with you today only adds to the joy of a wonderful smelling bar of soap.

As most of you are aware, we have the privilege of implementing a sustainable buy-one, give-one soap model in Burundi, Africa, where for every bar of soap we sell, we are able to employ men and women to produce another bar of soap that is given to children in the very same communities! This model has been proving a mushroom effect and we are happy to share this special report from our friend and partner Gilbert with,  Imagine Burundi-Terimbere.  With the production of the give-away bars, the community of Kamakara is able to invest in other ventures to help their people flourish. Thank YOU all for helping make this happen. You are changing lives in a very real way!

With love,
Andrew and Abi

With the production of the give-away bars, the community of Kamakara is able to invest in other ventures to help their people flourish. Read their stories below.
Left: Hatangimana Jean is 30 years old and cares for six children. He has earned enough money as a soap maker to invest in land and is now growing soybeans and corn. “It is very good that we have our own job now, we don’t have to cultivate for other people. We have our own job and earn our own money which can help our families.”
Right: Mrs. Nelly Cizanye is now able to cultivate a rice field portion with her earnings.
